WALTER SCHRODER  exhibited (1885-1932)
Oil on canvas Signed and titled verso
A very early depiction of life in St Ives harbour in the 19th Century by Walter Schroder who worked in Cornwall and was a contemporary of the well known Newlyn School artists Stanhope Forbes and Frank Bramley whos style is very apparent in this work. Schroder was head of Chester School of Art where he taught amongst others William Lee Hankey. A very large painting which was very probably for a major exhibition. He exhibited 6 works at the R.A.
